Some of the earliest shaving tools for man will make you cringe. They used flint knives and shark teeth, but with many years of technological advancement, now we have the best wet & dry electric shavers.
Choosing the right one for you is not always the easiest task because there are so many brands to choose from, so you might be spoilt for choice or even, downright confused.
However, never fear. With this smart guide, choosing the best wet dry electric shaver for you and your needs will never be a gamble anymore. Precisely, we’ll start with you (the user) — and get to the actual razors from there.
In my opinion, this is what’s fundamentally wrong with all the roundups of the so-called best shavers we see crop up all over the web: they barely account for the user and his needs.
I’ve bought and tested all the shavers listed in this guide, so I will present their pros and cons from the perspective of what it’s like to own and use them regularly.
I’m confident that by the time you finish reading the article, you’ll have a clear understanding of what makes a certain shaver suitable in a given situation and ultimately decide which one is best for you.
Best Wet Dry Electric Shaver – Comparison
Why is it so hard to pick the right electric shaver?
Well, first off, there are just way too many options out there. It’s overwhelming!
Choosing the right electric shaver can feel like a challenge because there are countless choices. You might find yourself stuck, going back and forth between different options, trying to figure out which one is the best.
And it doesn’t help that the differences between models aren’t always well explained. Sometimes, the names of the models don’t make any sense, and the manufacturers don’t really clarify what sets them apart.
Even when you look for reviews online, it can be confusing. Some sites have conflicting information or talk about things that don’t really matter for your decision.
Plus, it’s hard to tell if updates to a shaver are significant or just superficial changes. Sometimes, a new model is basically the same as the old one but with a different look. Other times, there are important improvements that affect how well it works.
All of these factors are important to think about when you’re trying to decide which electric shaver to go for.
The problem with most Best Wet/Dry shavers lists
Most lists of the best shavers out there don’t really think about you and what you need. You’ve probably looked into finding the perfect electric razor for yourself and come across tons of articles about it.
But here’s the thing: most of those lists have some big problems.
First off, there’s no one shaver that’s the absolute best for everyone. The best you can hope for is to find one that mostly fits what you’re looking for and doesn’t have too many downsides.
Secondly, a lot of the people making these lists haven’t actually tried the shavers they’re talking about. They just make lists of the ones that are popular or have a lot of hype around them. They might even just repeat what they’ve read in marketing materials, without really giving their own opinions.
This means you don’t often get honest reviews and real feedback.
I know it sounds pretty harsh, but it’s true. There are only a few places you can trust to give you good info about electric shavers.
And the problem is, most of these articles don’t take into account that everyone is different. Men have different needs and different ways of shaving.
So, it’s not a great way to find the right shaver for you.
Choosing the perfect shaver is all about what you need personally. It’s not one-size-fits-all.
When people recommend a shaver, it’s often based on their own experiences and opinions, which can be biased. What works great for one person might not work as well for someone else.
Men have different needs and preferences when it comes to shaving. Taking these differences into account is crucial when suggesting a shaver, so you have a better chance of getting one that suits you.
So, how do you do it? What should you consider when making a list of the best electric shavers that could work for lots of different people and situations?
After trying out and reviewing electric shavers for over 20 years, I’ve found that it boils down to a few key things:
- Each shaver has its own good and bad points, like how close it shaves, how comfortable it is, how fast it is, and how easy it is to clean.
- Everyone’s facial hair is different, so you have to think about things like how thick it is, whether it grows in different directions, and if it lies flat.
- Some people have sensitive skin, so they need to watch out for things like razor burn or ingrown hairs.
- Your shaving habits matter too, like how often you shave and whether you do it dry or wet.
- And of course, your budget plays a big role in what shaver you can get, including the initial cost and how much you’ll spend on replacements and maintenance.
I think looking at all these factors together is the best way to find a shaver that’ll work well for you.
There are some really good electric shavers out there nowadays, but no single one is perfect for every situation.
So, I’ll share some of the best ones I’ve tried, focusing on those key aspects I mentioned earlier. Hopefully, this will help you choose the right one.
I’ll be honest about the good and bad points of each shaver, based on my own experience using them regularly.
I’ll also explain why I picked each model and why I didn’t include others that might be more expensive but don’t offer much extra benefit.
Best Wet Dry Men’s Electric Shavers for 2024
Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s
- CLOSE, CLEAN SHAVE: 3 blade free floating system follows facial contours for a flawless finish and includes a middle trimmer to cut difficult hairs along with 2x SensoFoil shaving elements for ultimate closeness and skin comfort
- CAPTURES MORE HAIR: Precision trimmer for accurate moustache and sideburn trimming, includes a specialized MicroComb designed to capture more hair in each stroke *compared to Braun series 3, tested on 3 day beards
- BUILT TO LAST: Durable cordless electric shaver, lasting up to 7 years and designed for hair removal with water, foam or gel
- CORDLESS BATTERY POWERED: Rechargable ni-mh battery that gives you 45 minutes of shave time (up to a week of shaves). 5 minute quick charge is enough for one shave
- WHATS IN THE BOX: Braun Series 3 electric razor, protective cap, smart plug for automatic 100-240 voltage adjustment
The Series 3 by Braun is their basic range of electric shavers. They compete directly with Panasonic’s Arc 3 line.
What’s good about the Series 3 shavers is that they’re affordable and comfortable to use when shaving.
Both the shavers themselves and the replacement parts (called cassettes, Braun Series 3 part number 32B/32S) usually cost less than the equivalent parts for Panasonic’s Arc 3.
While the Series 3 shavers might not give you as close a shave as the Arc 3, they’re a bit gentler on your skin and more comfortable. They also work better if you haven’t shaved for a few days, needing fewer strokes to get your face clean.
There are different types of Series 3 shavers available. Some are for dry shaving only, like the 3050cc, which also comes with a cleaning station. Others, like the 3040s or 3010s, can be used wet or dry.
If you ask me, the Braun S3 ProSkin 3040s is a good choice because it’s not too expensive and has good features. Another option is the 3010s, but it doesn’t have a trimmer for cutting longer hairs.
The prices and which models are available can change, so it’s a good idea to check before you buy. If you can get the 3040s for about the same price, go for it.
The Series 3 3040s is easy to clean because the shaving head is simple. You don’t necessarily need a cleaning station, which can add to the cost. Models like the 3050cc, which come with a cleaning base, are more expensive.
Whichever Series 3 ProSkin you pick, they all shave the same way.
Choosing the right electric shaver for you depends on what features you need and how much you’re willing to spend.
Most electric shavers can be used either cordless or plugged in, but wet/dry ones are only safe to use cordless.
If you want a shaver that can be used both cordless and corded, check out the Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3000s , which is similar to the dry-only 3010s.
Series 3 shavers work best if you shave regularly. They struggle with longer hairs, but they handle them better than basic foil shavers like the Panasonic Arc 3.
The Series 3 is comfortable to use, especially for people with sensitive skin, because the foils stay cool during shaving. It’s also durable and should last for many years.
But there are times when you might want to consider other options:
If you want a really close shave, a Panasonic Arc 5 might be better. (check bellow)
If you have very thick facial hair, the Series 3 will work, but it might take longer and not be as enjoyable. In that case, it might be worth investing in a more powerful shaver like the Braun Series 8 or Panasonic Arc 5.
Braun Series 3 ProSkin 3040s Pros & Cons:

- Great for people new to shaving
- Lasts a long time and doesn’t cost much to maintain
What didn’t like
- Doesn’t shave as close as a Panasonic Arc 3
- Might struggle with thick & coarse beards
- Works better on shorter hairs
- Takes a bit more effort to clean

Deal alert: If you can get them for less money, the newer Panasonic Arc 5 ES-ALV6HR and Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV67-K are identical performance-wise (they even use the same foil & blades). Check Panasonic Arc 5 comparison bellow.
Panasonic is Braun’s main competition when it comes to foil shavers.
Even though Panasonic isn’t as popular as Braun in the USA, their shavers are usually top-notch in quality and performance.
Their Arc 5 line is designed to be the ultimate electric razor, with 5 cutting elements, a powerful motor, and super sharp blades.
Side note: Panasonic also released the 6-blade Arc 6 in 2021, initially only in Japan. And while it’s a fantastic shaver, the improvements over the Arc 5 are marginal and mainly related to comfort. The Arc 6 is also much more expensive.
Choosing the Arc 5 over the Arc 6 seems like the right choice for now, considering its features.
Well, there are 3 different generations of Arc 5 shavers (plus 9 different revisions of the third one), and almost all of them are still available for purchase.
To make things simpler for you, I’ll recommend just one option: the Panasonic ES-LV65-S from the second generation.
This shaver offers a great balance of cost and performance.
Sometimes you might find the ES-LV67 model for a lower price. It’s a newer version with a different design, but it shaves just like the ES-LV65-S.
The differences are mainly in things like looks and extra features, not in how well it shaves.
The ES-LV67 comes in three colors: black (ES-LV67-K), blue (ES-LV67-A) and red (ES-ALV6HR). The red one is only available in the USA and was released in 2023.
But honestly, any of these models will give you the same shaving experience.
My advice is to go for whichever one is cheaper, unless you really want a specific color.
Side note: the last letter (K, A, S, R) only refers to the color and can often be left out of the name completely.
- K for Black color
- A for Blue color
- S for Silver color
- R for Red color
By the way, the letters at the end of the model name just indicate the color and can usually be ignored.
And if you’re in the UK or Europe, the blue ES-LV67-A is often the best choice because it’s usually cheaper.
When it comes to electric shavers, there’s a bit of a trade-off between comfort and closeness.
Braun’s Series 9 shavers are known for their comfort and handling longer hairs well, while Panasonic is often considered the best for getting a really close shave.
This isn’t just true for the top-tier shavers like Series 9 and Arc 5; it’s the same for their lower-end models too. For instance, Panasonic’s Arc 4 and Arc 3 tend to outperform Braun’s Series 8 and 3 respectively in terms of closeness.
Panasonic achieves this closeness by using thin, precise foils and high-quality, sharp blades with a 30-degree angle for effective cutting. The motor in the Arc 5 is super fast, reaching 14,000 cycles per minute (CPM), making it one of the fastest around.
Sure, there’s a Xiaomi shaver claiming to reach 15,000 CPM, but in tests, it didn’t perform as well as the Arc 5.
Comparatively, the Series 9 by Braun has a 10,000 CPM motor, which is slower. While speed isn’t everything, this difference is hard to overlook.
The result of all these features in the Arc 5 is one of the fastest and closest shaves you can get. It handles coarse beards with ease.
Being a wet/dry model, you can use it with shaving cream for even better closeness and comfort. Adding shaving cream can make up for Panasonic’s slightly lesser comfort compared to Braun.
If you don’t fancy using creams and gels, you can try a pre-shave lotion for a quick dry shave, which can improve comfort and closeness without much extra cost or effort.
The ES-LV65-S/ES-LV67/ES-ALV6HR models are among the best electric shavers for very close shaves, handling coarse facial hair, and quick shaving sessions. They’re even more appealing with current price drops.
You can also get an Arc 5 with a cleaning station, like the Panasonic ES-LV95-S or ES-LV97-K. However, cleaning the shaver manually is easy and usually costs less.
The cost of the Arc 5 is quite reasonable for a high-end shaver, especially considering its performance. Not including a cleaning station with the ES-LV65-S helps keep the cost down.
The replacement parts for the foils and blades of Panasonic shavers can be a bit expensive, just like those for the Series 9 by Braun. But here’s a tip: if you have an ES-LV65-S/ES-LV67/ES-ALV6HR, you can actually use the latest foils and blades from the third generation Arc 5 shavers.
They fit perfectly and offer similar closeness but are a bit more comfortable. It’s an easy and relatively cheap way to upgrade your shaver when it’s time to replace the foils and blades.
If you choose the ES-LV97-K model, you won’t need to spend money on cleaning detergent. Plus, the detergent packs for this model are reasonably priced and last longer than Braun’s cleaning solution.
Now, let’s talk about when the Arc 5 might not be the best choice and what other razors could be better.
If you have very sensitive skin or suffer from ingrown hairs, you might want to consider a Braun Series 9 or 8, depending on your budget. The ES-LV65-S can be a bit harsh in these cases, although it doesn’t get as hot as some Arc 4 models.
Another issue could arise when shaving longer hairs, especially if they lie flat on the skin or grow in different directions. The Arc 5 focuses more on closeness than capturing flat-lying hairs, so a Braun Series 9 or 8 might work better here.
If you’re set on getting a Panasonic shaver, one solution could be to shave more frequently. Daily or every other day shaving with shorter beard hair makes dealing with wiry, flat-lying hairs less of a problem.
Finally, if you have a light beard or you’re new to electric shavers, the Arc 5 might be too much with its 5 blades and large shaving head. In that case, consider saving some money and opting for a Panasonic Arc 4 or even an Arc 3.
Panasonic Arc 5 ES-LV65-S Pros & Cons:

- Adequate comfort level for most users
- High-speed and powerful operation, ideal for coarse facial hair
- Blades of superior quality, exceptionally sharp
- Outstanding wet shaving performance
- Easily cleaned manually
- Great value for the price
What didn’t like
- Pricey replacement foils & blades
- Overkill for light beards
- Bulky shaving head needs some getting used to
- Less effective on flat-lying, wiry hairs
Philips Norelco OneBlade 360, QP2724/90

This electric razor, the OneBlade, is super versatile. It’s slim and has a double-sided blade that comes with three clipper attachments to handle hair all over your body.
The blade moves really fast, making it easy to cut even tough, long hair. I tried it on my face, neck, and body for a week and found it easy to use everywhere. It creates clean lines precisely.
For body grooming, it’s great. Changing blades is easy, and the skinguard protects sensitive areas. It has a comfortable grip, so you can use it in the shower without worry.
I like to keep a slight five-o-clock shadow, and the OneBlade shapes it perfectly without nicks or irritation. It’s also good for shaping mustaches and has replaced my bulkier trimmer.
It’s great for hard-to-reach areas like my temples and jawline. It flexes to my face’s curves for a close shave in just a couple of strokes.
It’s waterproof, so you can use it in the shower, and cleaning is easy with just a rinse.
It’s small and light, fitting easily into my grooming kit for when I’m on the go.
One thing to note, it doesn’t shave as closely as some other razors, leaving a slight stubble.
If you want to shave or trim efficiently, the OneBlade is a must-have. It works well on sensitive skin also and provides a unique shaving experience.
Some models allow you to trim your facial hair as well as your body hair. Here, we’ll explain the exact differences between the 4 different OneBlade models. That way, you can make the right choice.
All of them are 100% waterprooof, wet or dry use, ideal for trim, edge, and shave; and same replacement blade models like: QP225, QP229, QP420, QP430, QP610
With QP2724 and QP6531 models, you can trim, shave, and detail your facial hair. You do so with the 1, 2, 3, and 5mm comb attachments. You don’t get a body comb and skin protector. That makes these models unsuitable for your body hair.
You can use QP2834 and QP4631 models for your facial and body hair. These OneBlades include both an adjustable comb attachment for your face and a body comb with skin protector.
With the body comb, you can trim your body hair to 3mm. You can safely trim sensitive areas like your armpits and intimate zone with the skin protector.
QP6531 and QP4631 have longest battery life and shortest charging time
The battery of these 2 OneBlade models lasts the longest with 1 and 1.5 hours. You can also charge these models the fastest compared to other OneBlade models. You place the device on the charging stand and the battery is fully charged in 60 minutes.
The most advanced OneBlade model QP4631 includes a skin protector, body comb, extra blade, adjustable comb attachment, and a charging stand. This model also comes with a luxurious hard-case storage pouch. In this case, the device is properly protected from impacts.
QP6531 and QP4631 models have a sleek design with a useful display. On this display, you can see how much battery life remains. That’s convenient, because you’ll know exactly when it’s time to charge your OneBlade.
During charging, the display shows how full the battery is. You can also check if the travel lock of the OneBlade is activated on the display.
You get the most shaving lengths, the most powerful battery, and the sleekest design with the 2 OneBlade Pro models. The only difference between the 2 is the storage pouch and charging stand that’s included.
Do you want to trim your facial and body hair and are 4 shaving lengths enough? The OneBlade Face + Body QP4631/90 will suit you. The Philips OneBlade QP2724/90 is the right choice if you’re looking for a starter model for facial hair only.

If you’re looking for a good electric shaver that won’t break the bank, Panasonic’s Arc 3 is a solid choice.
The name “Arc 3” comes from its three-blade shaving system, which is curved for a comfortable shave.
What’s different among Arc 3 models is the power of their motors, which range from 7,600 to 13,000 Cycles Per Minute (CPM). The ones with stronger motors work much better.
I suggest focusing on models like the ES8103S, ES-LT41-K, ES-LL21-K, or ES-LT67-A, as they have the more powerful motors. But any Arc 3 with a 13,000 CPM motor will do well.
My personal favorite is the ES-LL41-K (or ES-LL21-K in Europe) because it’s usually priced reasonably.
Since we’re talking about affordable shavers, price should be a big factor in your decision.
In the past, I liked the ES8103S, but it’s been discontinued. Now, I recommend the ES-LL41-K for budget-friendly shaving.
There are fancier-looking Arc 3 models in the LT line, like the ES-LT67, but they perform the same. They’re also bulkier compared to the ES-LL41-K.
Even though LT Arc 3 models look nicer, I still prefer the ES-LL41-K because it’s more compact and nimble.
That’s why I lean towards recommending the ES-LL41-K over the ES-LT67, even though they perform similarly.
The ES-LL41-K is a new member of the Arc 3 family and comes with two special beard trimmer attachments. You don’t have to use them, but they’re handy for trimming or styling your stubble or designer beard.
These attachments fit over the shaver’s built-in popup trimmer, which is already pretty good on its own. They let you trim your hair to a specific length, from 1 to 7mm in steps of 1.
The ES-LL21-K model only has the small attachment, which trims from 1 to 3mm. This is useful if you haven’t shaved for a while and need to trim your beard before shaving.
So, it’s kind of like having a 2-in-1 shaver and trimmer, but I mainly chose it for its shaving capabilities.
I believe the ES-LL41-K is one of the best affordable foil shavers you can find. It has a strong motor (just slightly less powerful than the Arc 5 models), sharp blades, and sturdy build quality. It gives great performance for its price.
I’ve mentioned before that Panasonic’s Arc 4 and Arc 5 shavers are really good at giving close shaves, especially compared to similarly priced foil razors from Braun.
This quality extends to the entry-level models too, like the ES-LL41-K. It’s probably one of the closest shaving electric razors you can get at this price.
As long as they have the powerful motors (unlike the ES-SL41-S Arc 3 that I reviewed before), all Arc 3 models perform similarly. So, in terms of closeness, the ES-LL41-K is excellent, better than a Braun Series 3 or similarly priced Philips razor.
Its strong 13,000 cycles per minute motor and high-quality blades also make it suitable for thicker beards. Shaving light or medium facial hair with the Arc 3 is easy.
When it comes to comfort, the ES-LL41-K is pretty good, but it might cause some irritation if your skin is super sensitive or if you press too hard while shaving.
I’ve noticed it’s a bit rougher than the Arc 5 models, and the foils can get too warm after a few months of use, which can be uncomfortable.
You can lessen these issues by regularly lubricating the blades and using a pre-shave lotion. But the best solution, in my opinion, is to use a good shaving cream.
I know most guys prefer dry shaving, but Panasonic razors work best when used wet. So, if you’re not totally happy with the comfort or closeness of your shave, give wet shaving a shot.
To get the best results with a Panasonic Arc 3, shaving more often, like every day or every other day, works well.
You can usually find the ES-LL41-K at a good price, and there are often great deals available. The replacement foil and blade set (model number WES9013PC) costs less than the ones for the 4 or 5-blade Panasonic razors and is easy to find.
However, a replacement cassette for a Braun Series 3 is even cheaper and tends to last a bit longer.
The Arc 3 is a great choice for beginners because it’s simple to clean and use, fully waterproof, has a slim shaving head, and is durable.
But if you have really sensitive skin and want to save even more money in the long run, you might prefer a Braun Series 3 ProSkin, which is cheaper to buy and more comfortable. (Check above in this page)

Comparing it to similar products on the market, the Philips Norelco Shaver 7200 truly stands out. Its combination of cutting-edge technology, ergonomic design, and exceptional performance make it a top contender in the electric shaver game.

Factors To Consider When Purchasing The Best Wet Dry Electric Shaver
If you are looking for your next electric shaver, here are a few things to consider before you go out to purchase one, which will act as a buying guide to make sure you take home the best shaver for you.
Wet Or Dry
One of the best features of an electric razor is versatility, and one of the biggest benefits is the ability to dry shave, which means you can shave any place, any time.
With a wet dry electric shaver, you get to shave anywhere and leave no mess. A lot of modern shavers can be used both wet and dry, so if you need the convenience of shaving in your office as well as in the shower, then the wet and dry shaver is your best bet.
Brand
Some of the leading electric shaver brands are Braun, Panasonic, Phillips, just to name a few. These are popular manufacturers that do not compromise on quality, so there is a very good chance that a shaver from them will give you the best bang for your buck.
If reviews are anything to go by, these popular manufacturers receive a lot of positive reviews from customers. From those, you can be pointed in the right direction and be able to make an informed decision.
However, this is not to say that less popular brands should be sidelined. They just might surprise you regarding quality and performance so I would recommend doing extensive research before buying one.
Power Source
Whether it is a battery, mains or rechargeable, the power source is an important factor in picking the right shaver. Rechargeable varieties are great since they can be used both at home and while on the move.
Some can be used cordless or while plugged in, giving you an extra option when you run out of charge, and you don’t have time to wait for it to charge.
Battery shavers for everyday use are not recommended, as you will end up spending a considerable amount of money on replacing batteries.
Foil Or Rotary
Modern shavers are either foil or rotary. Foil shavers are made of a thin, curved metal foil that covers a set of blades.
While moving them in a long back and forth motion over the face and neck, the foil often remains still while the cutter block moves side to side, cutting hair as it enters the holes of the foil.
Since they are less harsh on your skin, they are preferred by men with sensitive skin that is susceptible to razor burns.
Rotary shavers typically have 3 round heads with circular cutters that rotate to conform to your face shape. The cutters spin below the head while cutting hair as a guard protects the skin from the blade.
These are best suited for individuals with medium to coarse beard density and those with regular to tough skin.
Skin Type
If you have a skin that sensitive and is susceptible to razor burn, this becomes a vital consideration when picking out your next shaver. Foil shavers are known for being less harsh on the skin when pitted against rotary shavers.
It is crucial to note that even with the foil shaver, use the right shaving technique and the right pre-shave products effectively for a comfortable shave.
Final Verdict
In my review are some of the five best wet dry electric shaver out there. If you are searching the market for one, I would confidently recommend one of these.
Carefully consider the specifications and make sure they fit your needs according to the ‘things to consider’ list before you buy.
